Originally built as two separate buildings, 115 & 119 S Jackson were joined in 1929 with one of the neighborhood’s only Art Deco facades. The building required significant adaptations for the diverse new uses, which include a cycling club, restaurant, retail, and 26 small efficiency apartments. In addition to maximizing the number of living units, the client also had a goal of activating the previously neglected and inaccessible alley facades. All of this was done while also following strict local and federal Historic Preservation guidelines.
