Engaged with the site on all sides, the main living level has sweeping views of Neahkahnie Mountain with two patios on either end. A central stairwell leads to the private bedrooms with views connecting to a wooded hillside. The stair welcomes natural light deep into the house while providing passive ventilation and is used to connect two compact sleeping lofts, allowing the house to comfortably sleep ten. The program is covered by a simple parallelogram roof plane that is clipped on the east side to comply with a zoning setback and notched on the west to provide a view from the main bedroom.
